The International Women’s Club of Antigua & Barbuda (IWC) has come a long way since its inception in 1986. Founded initially as the American Women’s Club of Antigua and Barbuda, its original goal was to help American women and wives of U.S. citizens on the island become acquainted and give them opportunities to enjoy the history, culture, and landscape of the island together.

In 2005, recognizing the rich diversity of the island, the organization was renamed the International Women’s Club of Antigua & Barbuda to embrace women of all nationalities and encourage them to become members. Club members represent countries that include the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, South America, and the Caribbean, including Antigua and Barbuda.

IWC members meet monthly for a luncheon featuring a guest speaker or an activity such as a visit to a local business or a bus or boat tour. Past speakers have included government ministers and senators, as well as representatives from non-government businesses or other organizations.

Since 1998, the IWC Scholarship Fund has provided women from the island with the opportunity to pursue tertiary education. With the support of the Mill Reef Fund, the IWC also delivers more than 200 baskets of food and other necessities to needy families at Christmas, ensuring that the spirit of giving and joy spreads throughout the island.
