Education

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” — Nelson Mandela

Education has long been a priority of the Mill Reef Fund. Starting with the youngest in early childhood programs up and including college scholarships, the Fund has targeted every possible intervention point to facilitate successful learning.

The Fund is installing libraries in primary and secondary schools, as well as donating textbooks, computers and phonics software to improve literacy. We underwrote Antigua’s first comprehensive screening and tutoring program for children with learning disabilities and have since expanded the program to include computer software that provides multi-level reading programs. We have also helped finance the salaries of literacy experts and other teachers. For many years, the Fund has financed a hot lunch program at a school for special needs children. And we are presently engaged in outfitting four early childhood classrooms to help insure that all children are prepared to begin school. To read more about the ways the Mill Reef Fund is contributing towards education see each of the projects below.
